Not many people know of this game or have any idea what it plays like. I thought it was much bigger and longer than it ended up to be. Personally, I actually liked how small and short it was.

The game is about a kid getting dragged into an "imaginative world" after reading a book. The island is in trouble because there orbs got stolen. You gotta retrieve em back by playing a series of minigames. You can design your own pet to compete in this minigames. Each pet has their own stats, but honestly, it doesn't matter a single bit. For the sake of simplicity, it's better that way!

After each orb you can buy new items to customize your pet with. The pet customization is a huge part of the game and as the game progresses, you unlock more options for customization. You can even draw your own pet after a while which enables to ability to hatch a Sonic (which is supposedly the best pet, but I didn't want to exploit that.. we got plenty of Sonic games already). You can also trade your pets with other people and battle friends.. it's made by Sega and I feel like they wanted to turn this big but must've ran out of time or just didn't care enough about it after a while.

So anyway, design your pet and play the minigames. After each path you get an orb and a couple of villagers respawn to the island. The island is pretty small and beautiful. I like it. After all orbs are obtained, you can fight the final boss which is fairly frustrating.

One major "exploit" of this game is how you can get unlimited free continues. Usually, the game only gives you a couple. This can be hugely irritating because if you lose all your continues, you have to do the whole path again. So I talked to the designer guy to help me design a pet through a questionaire. Everytime you do that, you get an extra continue. Just keep designing pets until you get 20 continues and then do the paths. I cut this out of the video because it was literally over an hour of footage.

You can also use potions but again, these don't do anything just like the pets stats.

Most people never make it past the water skipping game because that one is infuriating difficult and requires way more precision than all the other games.

I made sure to timecode only the unique minigames. Some minigames had to be played several times due to how the game works with paths, but I made sure not to timecode all of that.

So, basically, this game might seem like it has a lot to offer and you have no clue what to do… but trust me, give it a whirl and you notice how much of the content is completely neglected and what you're eventually left with is a pretty easy game.

Long post because not much is known about this game at all.

Okay, you sailed past the waterskip goal effortlessly, and you missed inputs.
Meanwhile, I consistently get under 500m despite minmaxing a ridiculous-looking monster just to get past this (130 power, 68 weight, achieved by just being a floating head and arms with eight Stars plastered onto it) and despite consistently getting "Great" inputs.
What is your secret? What timing is the game actually looking for instead of the flat-out lying meter it gives us?

I beat it when I was a kid somehow, but I can't imagine how.

I played this repeatedly. It also helped that I had a mad cat controller with a "repeater" button for those button mashing games.

Oh my god, I remember renting this game. Creating the monster and the water skipping level (which was hard as hell and I couldn’t beat it lol) I remember so well but I couldn’t remember the name of the actual game. Glad I finally know, thanks for the blast from the past!
