Alien Resurrection is a first-person shooter video game based on the 1997 film of the same name. It was originally intended to coincide with the film’s release, but was mired in development hell for several years, finally being completed and released in 2000. The game was developed by Argonaut Games and published by Fox Interactive exclusively for the PlayStation.

Following the same basic plot of the movie, the game takes place years after the events of Alien 3 and follows a cloned Lt. Ellen Ripley awaking aboard the USM Auriga and trying to escape from the xenomorph-infested research spaceship USM Auriga along with a crew of mercenaries.

When the Xenomorphs bred from the queen that was extracted from her cloned body escape containment and begin running rampant aboard the Auriga, Ripley must unite with a group of rag-tag mercenaries to escape the vessel.

The game is a first person shooter (FPS) with survival horror elements. It consists of ten levels, the first nine taking place in the Xenomorph-infested USM Auriga, with the last aboard the mercenary ship Betty.

The player uses four different characters from the movie. Ripley is the main playable character for a majority of the game’s levels, while Call, DiStephano, and Christie each get their own level as well. Each character has their own special equipment. Some players have different weapons. The selection includes a laser rifle, double barrel shotgun, grenade launcher, Shock rifle, flamer-thrower and a rocket launcher.

The player must complete different tasks to progress across the game. These include killing clones and ejecting overheating escape pods.

In addition to traditional drone aliens, the player also faces marines and facehuggers (if the player is implanted with an alien, they must track down a device to remove it, or the creature will hatch and the game ends), later fighting boss creatures such as the alien queen and the newborn.

spoilt with texture filtering, it also shows up where textures are joined… -_- Ps1 games look crisper without it and you cant see as clearly where textures are joined up. Example – https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iVvDho2giCE&t=1622s

Loved this one back in rhe day, even with the puke inducing FOV.

Looks amazing with emulators, it could have been ported easily and fast to Ps2 for example and would have looked great

A game with a full of potential, but have many bad design decision. You get tired quickly of being attacked over and over after press a switch or just open a door. The worst are the instant respawn xenomorphs behind you, makes the motion traker useles.

How stupid do you have to be to think playing a PS1 game at 4K looks good? All it does it make it incredibly obvious how blurry the textures are, and how simplistic the architecture and models are.

"The games control setup is the most terrifying element. The left analog stick moves you forward, back, and strafes right and left while the right analog stick turns you and can be used to look up and down" – Alien Ressurection PS1 review, October 2000

Potentially a good game. But the piss poor FOV of 35 this game has, makes it utterly unenjoyable. For me, its not playable for more than 5 minutes. And after 5 min. of simply watching this video, it turns into literal pain. It causes Eyestrain and a Headache.
Unless the FOV is fixed through a hack. Or this game comes to PC as an HD Remaster, GAME OVER!
